TINCKNELL COLLECTS BRDC SILVERWARE FOR STUNNING DEBUT LE MANS RESULT

Devon race ace recognised by BRDC for amazing Le Mans performance

Harry Tincknell has been awarded a prestigious accolade by the British Racing Drivers' Club.

The 22-year-old from Sidmouth collected the Woolf Barnato Trophy from ex-Formula One Grand Prix driver Martin Brundle at The Grand Connaught Rooms in London yesterday (8 Dec) an annual event that was also attended by the Club's President-in-Chief, HRH The Duke of Kent KG.

"It was an honour to be invited to the annual BRDC Awards for the first time and then to get this award", confirmed Tincknell. "The recognition six months after the race continues to underline just how big and significant the Le Mans 24 Hour race is in the world of motor racing."

The Woolf Barnato Trophy was collectively awarded to Tincknell plus his JOTA Sport co-drivers Simon Dolan and Oliver Turvey to recognise the highest-placed British drivers in a British car in the Le Mans 24 Hours.

Exeter-born Tincknell, along with Dolan and Turvey, won the LMP2 class and finished an incredible fifth overall at Le Mans in June achieved on Harry's debut in the classic French sportscar race.

Tincknell, having switched from single-seater formula racing this year, was denied the European Le Mans Series Driver's title by just five points after placing first, second, third and fourth in the five-race series.

Furthermore Harry himself scored three 'pole' positions in ELMS race qualifying and incredibly set the second fastest LMP2 time at Le Mans in qualifying despite his lack of experience around the daunting 8.47-mile track.

The great and the good of motorsport were in attendance at the awards including Formula One World Champion Lewis Hamilton.
